The Department of Entomology was established in the year 2013 (H.H.Shree Shree Murlidhara Swamiji College of Horticulture, Malegaon) affiliated by Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri to coordinate and strengthen teaching, research and extension activities in Entomology and allied areas. Following are the aims and objective:
• To offer education in Plant protection and related aspects keeping in view of the changing global scenario in horticulture and allied subjects. At present 5 major courses in UG programme.
• To develop cost effective, ecologically sustainable plant protection measures for horticultural and agricultural crops.
• To facilitate for the effective transfer of plant protection technologies to the stake holders
The Department of Plant Pathology has a simple mission: We benefit society by protecting and enhancing plant health. We study the microorganisms of plants, soil, mushrooms, and more habitats and strive to understand the relationships between microbes, and microbes relationships with their hosts and the environment. We apply our fundamental research to managing diseases and solving other problems that impact food safety, crop productivity, human health, and agricultural and ecosystem sustainability. Changes in the environment always will change the plant health and with our responsibilities. Undoubtedly, Plant Pathology is and will be the heart of Agriculture and Horticulture.
